PRIDE Seeds has announced that the Canadian Food Inspection Agency has granted registration of two new LibertyLink® soybean varieties for the Canadian market. “The registration of these two PRIDE Seeds varieties provides producers with a new technology option for not only increased yield potential, but a new herbicide option with Liberty® Herbicide that provides a unique mode of activity in soybeans,” says Stephen Denys, Vice President of Sales and Marketing with PRIDE Seeds.Denys says producers have been asking for a complement to their current conventional or herbicide tolerant system in soybeans and corn. The LibertyLink system now provides a new option for soybean producers. “As the largest independent seed company in row crops in Canada, the registration of these varieties supports our core strategy at PRIDE Seeds of providing our customers with the best genetics and seed based technologies for their operations. Our goal is to support our customers’ goal of improving their profitability. The LibertyLink soybean system provides us with a new tool to do that.”For growers wanting to try this new system, Denys says it is not too late for 2010. “We have a limited supply of seed available,” he adds. Contact your local PRIDE Seeds dealer today for more information. These varieties will be packaged using our PRIDE Seed count system with 140,000 seeds per bag. Growers can then use Liberty Herbicide in-crop to provide broad-spectrum weed control as part of their comprehensive weed control strategy. The two LibertyLink varieties registered include:PS 1165 LL – 2825 CHU or a maturity group 1.1PS 2295 LL – 3150 CHU or a maturity group 2.2“Both varieties were outstanding in our trials and in seed production fields in 2009,” says Jon Klapwyk, Manager of Product Development and Agronomy with PRIDE Seeds. “Agronomically, these varieties are extremely sound offering good to excellent disease tolerance with good standability and high ratings for no-till production.
